Taking A Liberty

Taking A Liberty

Simply get all other Trophies for this game. Same as any other Platinum.

Off the Boat

You have completed the first mission.

Simple enough complete the first mission “The Cousins Bellic“ which is to drive Roman to his destination.

One Hundred And Eighty

You scored 180 with 3 darts.

Darts is one of the activities that you do with your friends. This is one of the easier games to play. To get this trophy you need to score 180 in one turn. This is done by hitting treble 20 with each dart. For those of you that don’t know what darts is a picture of the location of treble 20 is below:

Pool Shark

You beat a friend at pool.

Again this is an activity that you play with your friends. Simply win a game of pool against any of them. I did mine against Roman.

King of QUB3D

You beat the high score in QUB3D.

You can play this game at any point in your game. You can play it at these locations

• Homebrew Cafe, Broker.
• A back room in Perestroika, Broker.
• Modo clothing store, Algonquin.
• The Triangle Club, Northern Gardens, Bohan.
• The Lost MC Clubhouse (only in The Lost and Damned).

You need to set the new high score for this game. The aim of the game is to match up coloured blocks into groups of four or more before they fill up the screen, similar to Tetris. Takes a bit of practice but once you get used to it its easy enough to set the high score.

Finish Him

Complete 10 melee counters within 4 minutes or less.

For this trophy it is best to attempt at the Heliride in south Algonquin. This way you can pick of the people stood in the queue. All you need to do is engage in a fist fight with a random pedestrian (not a police officer ). When they take a swing at you press and hold once you have dodged their attacked press immediately to counter their move. Do this a further 9 times in the four minutes. I your opponent is knocked out/dies, simply move to the next guy. The reason the heli-pad is the best location is that the police don’t bother you whilst you’re having fights in this location.

Genetically Superior

You came first in 20 singleplayer street races.

You need to complete 20 races that you can get by calling Brucie. Go to your mobile press, phonebook then Brucie, then race. He’ll tell you where the start is. Get a decent car and head to the start line. Win the race, and repeat. From time to time Brucie will say there aren’t any races at the moment, to get by this move somewhere else on the map and try again.

Wheelie Rider

You completed a 500 foot wheelie on a motorbike.

This is easy enough with a bit of practice. Get a decent bike (preferably not a chopper/cruiser type), find a nice long stretch of road. Pull back on and accelerate. You can keep the wheelie going by tapping accelerate making sure your front wheel doesn’t touch the floor. After what you think is 500ft, let the front wheel touch the floor and you should get the trophy if you don’t then you need to do it over a longer distance .

Gobble Gobble

You got a Turkey in 10-pin bowling.

This is one can be a little tricky, but with practice you will get there. Start by going bowling with a friend. Choose to play a full game (this give you more time to get it!). Use the far left lane. When it’s your turn take to full steps to the left. Pull back on and then push it forward in a steady motion. Not too fast or too slow (this is the bit that needs practice) Once you get a strike simply do the same again to get 3 in a row.

Driving Mr. Bellic

You unlocked the special ability of Roman's taxi.

This is a special ability unlocked when you get Roman to “like” you. You need a rating of 75% for this to unlock. You will more than likely unlock this whilst going for Liberty City (5). See there for how to increase how much your friends “like” you.

Note: See Liberty City (5) for tips on how to raise “like” rating.

Rolled Over

You managed 5 car rolls in a row from one crash.

There are two ways this can be done:

1. Go to the airport in a fast sports car. On the central reservation on the run ways there are little signs which act as ramps. Use these to perform rolls making sure you land on your wheels, when you land don’t take your foot of the peddle, keep going once you have done 5 rolls you can let go and come to a stop. This should get you the trophy.

2. The other method is to go to the glitched swing. Located in a park in Broker (map and swing image below). Parking in this glitched swing pings you into the air and you should get the 5 rolls. The glitched swing is the one on the left as you look at it.

Walk Free

You successfully lost a 4 star wanted rating.

This one can be tricky. Firstly you need to get your Wanted rating upto 4 stars! Then get yourself in a decent vehicle and make a run for it. The trick is to break line of sight as much as possible. Once you are out of the police radars calm down you getaway until the Wanted level is back to normal and you should get this trophy. You can also use the Pay’n’Spray, but just make sure you’re not seen entering it..

Courier Service

You completed all 10 package delivery jobs.

This is an easy one. All you need to do is go to your phonebook, go to Jacob, then click “Job”. Complete the job he gives you. All his missions start at the pool hall in the Jamaican quarter of Broker. Once you have completed 10 of these you’ll get this trophy.

Retail Therapy

You unlocked the special ability of buying guns from Little Jacob.

Once Jacob “likes” you enough he will call you to tell you that you can now buy weapons from him. You can phone him and select Guns and he will come to your location and sell you guns at a discount. Your “like” rating for Jacob needs to be 75 in order for this service to become available.

Chain Reaction

You exploded 10 vehicles in 10 seconds.

The easiest way to do this is to steal a bus from Star Junction. And drive it to one of the many bridges (I took mine to the Broker Bridge. Park the bus so that it blocks the traffic. When at lest 10 vehicles are parked/crashed up against the bus, chuck a couple of grenades in to the mix, sit back and enjoy the fireworks. If 10 vehicles aren’t there go steal some and bunch them up nice and close.

One Man Army

You survived a 6 star wanted level for a full 5 minutes.

I did this once I had unlocked the central Island (Algonquin) There are two ways to do it once you are on this island:

1. Steal a boat and sail it around the 3rd and locked island (Alderney). Once you do this you will immediately get a 6 star wanted level. Simply circle the island for 5 minutes and you will get this trophy.
2. Steal a helicopter from the Helitours bad and do the same as above flying over and around Alderney

Note: You don’t have to evade them to get the trophy.

Lowest Point

You completed the mission 'Roman's Sorrow'.

This is a story related trophy and you will get it once you have completed the ‘Roman’s Sorrow’.

Order Fulfilled

You completed all 10 Exotic Export orders.

These are little missions you can do by checking your emails at Tw@ Café’s. Brucie will email you a photo, description and location of a vehicle he wants. You go get it and return it to his garage. Once he has received it, he will email you again for the next one. Simply do them all until you get this trophy.

Manhunt

You completed the most wanted side mission.

For these missions you need to steal a police car. You will also need to access the police computers (you will gain access to this after you complete “Crime and Punishment” mission). Once in a stolen police car, park up and press . Then click most wanted. Then select a criminal. You map will be updated with their location. Drive to them and deal with them. There are 10 Most Wanted criminals on each island.

Cleaned The Mean Streets

You caught 20 criminals through the police computer.

Again for these missions you will need to have access to a police car and its computer system. Pressing again select View Current Crimes. This will start you mission. It’s similar to the Vigilante missions of old. Go to the criminal’s location and deal with them. It may involve a shoot out, chasing down cars. Take down 20 criminals for this mission.

Fed The Fish

You completed the mission 'Uncle Vlad'.

This is a story based mission. You will get it once you complete the mission “Uncle Vlad” Prepare for a small shoot out, a car chase and some high rise killing.

It’ll Cost Ya

You made a taxi trip from one island to another without skipping.

Easy enough. Hail a taxi press , press and hold to enter it with out hi-jacking it. Choose a destination that is on another island, sit back and enjoy the ride. Then get out when you get to your destination.

Sightseer

You have taken all variations of the helicopter tours of Liberty City.

This one can be a little tricky. Head to the Helitours pad in south Algonquin. Here you will find 5 different Helicopter landing pads. You need take the tour of each helicopter at each pad. To take the tour approach the helicopter, press and hold and watch the tour, or simply skip it, it will still count.

Note: All 5 helicopters are not always there you may have to come back at different times in the day to get the ones you are missing.

Warm Coffee

You were invited into your girlfriend's house.

During the game you have the chance to date several women. After you take them out on a date, depending on how much they enjoyed it they will accept your request to go in for coffee (press :cross.

How much they enjoyed the date depends on things as places you’ve taken them, clothes your wearing etc. a rough guide is below on what impresses each women and how to start dating them.

That’s How We Roll!

You unlocked the special ability of Brucie's helicopter ride.

Once Brucie “likes” you enough he will call you to tell you that you can use his helicopter to take you to certain locations on the map. You can phone him and select Helicopter and he will tell you the location of the nearest heli-pad. Your “like” rating for Brucie needs to be 75 in order for this service to become available.

Note: See Liberty City (5) for tips on how to raise “like” rating.

Half Million

You have amassed a fortune of $500,000.

You will get this playing the game, providing you don’t go silly on the spending front on clothes, ammo, guns etc. Generally you shouldn’t need to buy any ammo or guns throughout the game as you will pick them up from the dead folks you kill in missions. Or will gain for doing missions. Once you half the half million you can spend at will. Just be careful with your cash and you’ll get this one.

Hidden Trophy

Impossible Trinity

You completed the mission "Museum Piece".

This is a story based mission. You will get it once you complete the mission “Museum Piece” Prepare for a long shoot out, fighting your way out of the museum, a car chase and some escaping.

Full Exploration

You unlocked all the islands.

You will get this playing during you playthrough of the game. You need to gain access to all the islands on the map. You will be able to access all islands once you have completed the mission “Three Leaf Clover”. This is a tough mission, with lots of shooting involved, so be prepared (Armour and Ammo ). This mission will also greatly help towards your “Half Million” trophy.

You Got The Message

You delivered all 30 cars ordered through text message.

You will not get the option to do these side missions until you have completed the story missions “No. 1” and “Smackdown”. Once you have completed these you will get a text message from Stevie asking you to find a car for him. You’ll get a photo and a location. You’ll have to find the car yourself. It won’t show its location on the map. Once you find the car you need to take it to the garage marked on your map. Once this is done, you’ll get paid. Stevie give you the next vehicle location for 6 in-game hours.

Note: A quick way to do this is to complete a mission, then save your game as this will pass 6 in-game hours and you next vehicle and location will be waiting on your phone.

Dare Devil

You completed all the unique stunt jumps.

There are 50 Stunt Jumps throughout the game. They all start at a ramp. You need to clear a set distance, or land in a specific place for it to count as completed. I used the maps from to help me find the locations.

Assassin's Greed

You completed all 9 assassin missions.

You be able to do these side missions once you have completed “Truck Hustle”. Once this mission is complete you will gain access to a pay phone in Algonquin. The location of this pay phone is marked by a cross hair on your map. Go to this phone and you will be asked to kill someone. They will provide you with the tools for the job too which is nice of them. Kill the target and get the money There are 9 missions to complete, have fun.

Endangered Species

You collected every hidden package in the game.

There are 200 Flying Rats to take out throughout the game. They are in various locations on each island. Shoot and kill each of them for this trophy. I used the maps from to help me find the locations.

Note: Make sure you save your game after you kill some as the flying rats killed are not auto-saved. I found this out when I thought I had killed them all. Thankfully it was some of the first few so after I started again, the ones I was missing were easily found.

Under the Radar

You flew under all the main bridges in the game.

There are 14 bridges to fly under on the map. All you need to do is fly under each using a stolen helicopter Heli Tours. This is best done once all islands are unlocked so that you don’t get the police after you. See the map below for locations in light blue.

Dial B for Bomb

You unlocked the special ability of Packie's car bomb placement.

Once Packie “likes” you enough he will call you to tell you that you can now order car bombs from him. You can phone him and select Bomb and he will prepare a car bomb for you to collect and use as you wish. Your “like” rating for Packie needs to be 75 in order for this service to become available.

Gracefully Taken

You completed the mission 'I'll Take Her'.

This is a story based mission. You will get it once you complete the mission “I'll Take Her'” Prepare for some internet surfing, test driving, and of course some kidnapping.

Liberty City (5)

Your friends all like you above 90%.

This trophy is probably best done at the end of the game. You need to get all your friends (listed below) to have a like rating of 90% towards you. Below are tips on how to achieve this, what activities and food they like best.

That Specials Someone

You completed the mission “That Special Someone”.

This is a story based mission. You will get it once you complete the mission “That Special Someone” Prepare for some a little driving and to make a big decision.

You Won!

You have completed the story.

You will get this upon completing the final mission. For the final mission you have a choice of either Revenge or making a Deal. Either way you choose it will be the final mission of the game. I chose Revenge .

Liberty City Minute

You finished the story in less than 30 hours.

This isn’t as hard as it sounds. Here is a list of time saving exercises when doing this.

• Skip all Cut scenes
• Use Taxi’s where possible to get to your destination (Skip the journey too!)
• Ignore all phone calls that aren’t mission specific (i.e. from girlfriends and friends)
• Have Autosave turned on because if you fail a mission, simply reload your autosave.

I did this trophy separate to my original playthrough. You can do the same if you wish so that you know what’s going on in the story.

Key to the City

You completed GTA IV to 100%.

This certainly is fun and takes a bit of time… See the checklist below:

• Little Jacob drug delivery = 2%
• Brucie 10 cars export = 2%
• Brucie Races = 2%
• Assassinations = 2%
• Stevie Car Thefts = 2%
• Friends = 10% (This includes unlocking their abilities and doing all available activities with them.)
• Games = 5% (win in all these games, Darts, Bowling (full game), Pool & QUB3D (get high score)
• Random Characters = 5% (Find and complete all their missions)
• Most Wanted = 2.5%
• Vigilante = 2.5%
• Flying Rats = 2.5%
• Unique Stunt Jumps = 2.5%

Teamplayer

You killed 5 opposing team members.

This is easy enough. I did it joining a Team Deathmatch. Make sure there are plenty of people on the opposing team, and just keep killing them. You’ll get it if you stick around long enough and kill 5 different opponents.

Cut Your Teeth

You were successfully promoted up a rank in multiplayer.

No need to worry about this one really. You will get it whilst working towards the ‘Wanted’ trophy. You’ll get it once you earn $1000.

Join The Midnight Club

You won a multiplayer race without damaging your vehicle too much.

Before starting a race make sure you have the option for damage turned ‘ON’. Then simply have a race and win with minimal damage. This is easily done.

Fly The Co-op

You completed 'Deal Breaker', 'Hangman's NOOSE', and 'Bomb Da Base II' n time.

This can be tricky and it’s advised that you do this with a friend or boost partner, and it will also help to study the video links below (easily found on Youtube). You need to do the 3 Multiplayer missions in a set amount of time, I have listed them below:

• Bomb Da Base II - Finish in under 5:32 –
• Deal Breaker – Finish in under 7:03 –
• Hangmans Noose – Finish in under 2.32 –

Toughest one I found was deal breaker, but with the right partner it can be easy enough.

Taking It For The Team

You were on the winning team in all multiplayer team games.

You need to win each of the following team games in multiplayer mode:

• Cops N Crooks (Win as both Cops and as Crooks)
• Team Car Jack City
• Team Deathmatch
• Team Mafia Work
• Turf War

You don’t really need to worry too much about this as you will get it working towards ‘Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic’.

Top of The Food Chain

You successfully killed 20 players with a pistol in a deathmatch.

All you need to do for this is get 20 kills with a pistol in a deathmatch. Find a Ranked deathmatch with plenty of players and that’s running for a fair amount of time and kill as many as you can with your pistol. Failing that you could just boost it with a friend .

Top The Midnight Club

You won 20 different multiplayer standard races.

All you need to do for this is win 20 different races in multiplayer mode. You will get this whilst going for Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic.

Wanted

You achieved the highest personal rank possible in multiplayer.

This is where the fun/grind begins . At the end of each multiplayer game you earn some dollar. The target for this trophy is to get to Rank 10 which means earn $5,000,000 (full rank breakdown below). This takes a while. Its best to start after you have earned Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic so that you at least have a head start and less time you have to spend grinding. This should be the online trophy you go for. The quickest way to get cash is to grind like hell on Hangman’s Noose. On average you get $4,500 every 3 minutes (providing you have a decent grinding buddy to do it with).

To get $5,000,000 doing just Hangmans Noose will take you approx 1,111 games. Which works out at approx 56hrs .

Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic

You won in all variations of multiplayer games.

By far the worst trophy on the game, and its only a bronze . This is best done with a boost partner. Like it says you need to win every variation of online games. Use the checklist linked below. Get a tick in every box and you should get this trophy.

Note: This trophy has been know to glitch. Its best to start a fresh even if you think you’ve won games already.

Let Sleeping Rockstars Lie

You killed a Rockstar in multiplayer.

This is easy enough to get now. All you need to do is kill a Rockstar Developer. Seeing as they aren’t on very often, simply kill someone at random in any multiplayer game and you will not doubt get this.

TLAD: One Percenter

Help Billy get his bike back. (The Lost and Damned)

Very easy. You get this pretty much at the very start, and there isn't anything open to you before hand. It has nothing difficult about it but gives a good indicator on the improved controls on bikes.

TLAD: The Lost Boy

Become the leader of The Lost. (The Lost and Damned)

You get this after the mission "This Shit's Cursed". It's about halfway trhough the story missions. It isn't too difficult but involves alot of shooting. Just be prepared with good guns and armour. Once you drive back to the clubhouse, it should unlock.

TLAD: Easy Rider

Finish the story. (The Lost and Damned)

Title says it all. Complete all the story missions to unlock this. The story isn't nearly long enough in my opinion, but is still enjoyable. There aren't any missions that should cause you problems. Just always come heavily prepared for each mission.

TLAD: Get Good Wood

In the bike races, whack off 69 bikers with a bat. (The Lost and Damned)

This isn't as bad as it first sounds. It can be done over multiple races (they become available after the 4th mission). It also doesn't have to be 69 different bikers. It can be the same guy 69 times if you feel cruel.

Best thing to do is wait for a straight. Pull up behind someone and start to hold (left) or (right) and when next to them release. He should take a full swing. Hit them and they will fall. Once you hit the magic 69, you get the trophy. You can track the number in the stats page. Its under Score.

TLAD: Full Chat

Build Terry and Clay's toughness to 100%. (The Lost and Damned)

These guys are part of your gang, and can be called for backup during the game. Don't bother about this trophy until you've completed the story, as their toughness builds up with certain missions.

Easiest way to get their toughness up after the story is to go do Gang wars that are readily accesible halfway through the game. Every succesfull war will build their toughness by about 3%. Keep going until the are both at 100%. If they die, the do respawn after you have completed that mission you lost them on. So don't panic. You can't mess this up. Their toiughness can be tracked in Stats under Player.

TBoGT: Gone Down

Complete all base jumps. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

You unlock base jumps after the mission "High Dive". They are represented by parchutes dotted about the map. There are 15 in total and are split into 3 categories of 5 jumps.
- Checkpoint
- Target
- Vehicle

Vehicle is by far the hardest, but still isn't overly hard. Get used to the speed in which you drop and take your time with the jumps. There is no need to be 100% accurate, just complete the 15 for the trophy.

TBoGT: Diamonds Forever

Complete the Trinity. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

You get this for completing the mission "Not So Fast". For anyone that has completed the main story missions for GTA IV might recognise this a bit. Pretty interesting to see the tie in.

Once the mission starts, fly to the marker and land. Watch the cutscene and after, kill everyone in the area. Once you get out the building jump in the helicopter, and fly away quickly. Turn around and spray the helicopters with bullets, while constantly shooting rockets. After that just follow the marker and land. Much easier than it's counterpart mission imo.

TBoGT: Four Play

Hit a flag with a golf ball four times.

You unlock the chance to play golf after the mission "Practice Swing". After this mission, go back to the golf range to play against somebody. There will be one flag to aim for, so hover the curser over it and press . The bar will go up to the top and on the way back down, hit as close to the black line as possible. As you have aimed directly for the flag, if you are just slightly off the line, you might still hit it. Do this four times (it took 5 times for me, not sure why).

TBoGT: Bear Fight

Win the L.C. Cage Fighters championship. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

Firstly. You have to win six fights and all without leaving the room with the cage. Each fight has 3 fighters an the later fights, the guys have weapons. There are a couple of tricks however to help you.

~ Don't use dodge. It isn't always good at reacting, and you tend to get hit more than you hit back, wasting valuable health.
~ You get a slight health boost after each round so if you only get hit a couple of times, you might start the next round with full health.
~ Body armour doesn't help you.
~ If you are worried about your health, at the end of the round, DONT choose to leave the fight. Instead choose to bet on a fight. After spectating a fight, say you want to fight again. You will have fulkl health and wont have lost your fight progress.

Use these tips, and you should get there after a couple of attempts. Use kick followed by three punches, then back off. Avoid the special attack, it's too slow.

TBoGT: Catch the Bus

Dance perfectly in both Tony's nightclubs. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

Stupid trophy. You have to dance perfectly which means, not making a mistake which interupts your dancing. The main story will teach you how to dance, and force you to dance at least once but here is how to do it.

First push and in any direction, move them about, doesn't matter. The DJ will then tell you to hold them. Hold them still for a few seconds. Then the game will tell you to press and . Now don't press these at the same time. Press them one after the other repeatedly in time to the music. Do this right and it will happen again.

If you are dancing properly then sometimes you will get a dance off which is a very easy QTE, so just follow the prompts. If you do it well, the whole dance floor should start dancing in sync with you. After that, a message should appear saying "Well done, the bus top is complete.".

Do this in both clubs and the trophy is yours.

TBoGT: Snow Queen

Complete 25 drug wars. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

After completing "the Corner Kids" random pictures of drugs appear on the map. If you go to these you can do a mission with Armando and Henrique. They all involve the same idea. Drive somewhere, kill people and steal something. They have very little variation and are quite boring. So start early to try spread out the tasks.

There are 25 of them but they aren't all open for you to do straight away. They also get progressivly harder so always go in well armed and with full health.

TBoGT: Adrenaline-Junkie

Freefall for the longest possible time. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

You might get this by doing base jumps or even via the story but if not, the easiest thing to do is steal a helicopter. Take it so high that it won't go any higher and jump out (remember a parachute ). It's all in the timing of you pulling the parachute. Leave it to the very last moment, and always do it close to low lying land, a beach being perfect. Pull it when you are a second from hitting the ground and it should be yours.

TBoGT: Maestro

Finish the Ballad. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

You get this when you finish the mission "Departure Time" to get this trophy. It will pop up after the credits. You can play on after this and replay ANY mission you want from the story.

TBoGT: Past the Velvet Rope

Score 80% or above in all missions. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

There isn't much point aiming for this trophy as you will get it on the way to get Gold Star. Plus some missions will give you either 75% or 100%, there is no inbetween, so just aim for 100% and look at the tips below for help.

Score 100% in all missions. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

This is the most time consuming trophy of the DLC, and a bit of a joke that it isn't at least a silver. Every mission you do you get graded on.
There are the standard goals, of completing the mission in under x amount of time.
Finish the mission with a % of health.
Finish the mission with a % of accuracy.
Then there are some more quirky ones thrown in. They tend to relate to the mission itself.

The best approach to take is try and finish EVERY mission with good accuracy and health first. Ignore the time. And ignore anything that might jepordize your health.

Second. If something is a bit different about the level, try and do it well. I realise that is vague, but if you have to hit 5 snipers and the game tells you that, then try hit all 5 with one shot each. 9 times out of 10 this will be an extra mission goal.

Thirdly, remember that you can replay EVERY mission again once you have completed the main story. So thats when you can start to think about doing it on a speed run, or trying a different tactic for an extra goal.

NOTE: Using a taxi, ANY cheat or dying/failing will result in a 0% mission rating. It will not count. So if you are using cheats, use them before you start the mission. And always have a fast car handy.
