Thread: Activision bankrupt?

News just in on IFN.com, Activision have sold all of their IP's to other publishing companies. Titles like Call of Duty and Guitar Hero have been scooped up by Sony, and upcoming racer Blur is now an XBox exclusive. In response to questions raised about why they would sell all their big-name franchises in such a way, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said

We feel that these games are unable to make us enough money for our company to consider continuing them. Most notably, my inability to sell Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the reasonably low price-point of $2,000 is key to the liquidation of the brand

When asked if this meant Activision were filing for Bankruptcy, Bobby replied

No, we will still be making games. We're just focusing our assets on markets where we can see that the money is. We've signed a contract with Nintendo to make a range of hairdresser games for the Wii, to be sold with a brand new, exciting peripheral. Naturally, the peripherals from old games will not work with the latest installment of this franchise, how else are we to make up our losses? And just to be clear, I specifically wrote into the contract the price of these games, so Satoru Iwata has definitely given the go ahead to sell at $999,999,999.99

was the right thing to do though. might as well express what you believe in. its the only way of getting heard

He got banned like various other senior members and staff for having a go at the owners of the site which they quite frankly deserved
